Dead hiker ID'd as Everett man

INDEX -- A man who died during a hiking accident near Index this past weekend was identified Wednesday as Randall Alan Stupey, 30, of Everett.

Stupey's body was recovered Monday from rough terrain near Lake Simms, east of Index, police said.

Stupey had been hiking with his brother when the two became separated. His brother called 911.

Stupey died from head injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office. His death was ruled an accident.
