The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society plans to host a free presentation by Loren Kraetz and Sue Walde from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at 730 Highland Drive in Arlington.
The session covers the history of schools in the Silvana area and is to include photographs, a look at early families of the area, and a time for those who attend to add information about the area.

Darrington: Coalition to resume meetings
The Darrington (substance abuse) Intervention/Prevention Community Coalition is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Darrington High School library.
Darrington: Town Hall hosts display
Darin Wagner, firefighter and mechanic, is sharing his hobby with the community with a display in the lobby at Town Hall, 1005 Cascade St.
Wagner has collected old toy logging trucks, and has painted and lettered them to represent all of the old logging companies from Darrington's timber harvest history.
Marysville: Help with Medicare drug plans
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering an overview of Medicare services, new premiums and updated information on Medicare Part D, the prescription drug plan. The free information session will be presented 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at the Ken Baxter Community Center, 514 Delta Ave. The session is presented by Senior Services of Snohomish County. Oak Harbor: NAS to host 5K race
Whidbey Island Naval Air Station's Fitness Center is hosting its annual Enduring Freedom 5K Run and Walk on Saturday at Windjammer Park and Beach in Oak Harbor.
The event is free and open to the public. Start time is 9 a.m. The event curves around Oak Harbor along Bayshore Drive to Pioneer Way and the Oak Harbor Yacht Club. Turnaround point is near the Oak Harbor Marina.
