Prep football: Oak Harbor 36, Arlington 15

ARLINGTON -- To call Oak Harbor senior fullback Fred Webster's game on Friday night "overpowering" might be a slight understatement.
Dominant might be a little more applicable as Webster managed to rush for 162 yards on 23 carries to go along with his three touchdowns in leading the Wildcats (2-0) to a 36-15 victory over Arlington (0-2) in a Wesco 4A/3A crossover matchup.
Webster didn't take long to get going, scoring his first touchdown early in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7 on a two-yard run up the middle. He managed an identical two-yard run later in the period, and scoring for the third and final time with 4:08 remaining in the fourth quarter on a rumbling 20-yard run.
To go along with his three scores Webster would set up a two-yard punch in by Jon Lanningham with a 29-yard run to make it 22-15 Oak Harbor midway through the third quarter.
While the Wildcat offense seemed to take advantage of most of their offensive possessions, the Eagles offense appeared stagnant after gaining the early lead from a Austin Wells pass to Jayden Jira to make it 7-0.
The only other score from Arlington would come from the opening kickoff of the second half which Jared Aiskog would return for an 82-yard touchdown to pull the Eagles within one. Seconds later Arlington would convert on a two-point attempt to DeeShawn Benjamin that would give them the 15-14-- a lead the would last a total of one possession.
The Oak Harbor defense would take care of a variety of Arlington miscues as well, sacking quarterback Wells twice for a loss, intercepting him twice and recovering a fumble on the final Eagle possession of the first half on a second and six.
