Front Porch: Share your Silvertips memories
The Everett Silvertips open their 10th season in the Western Hockey League next week, and we know there are die-hard, cowbell-ringing fans out there who have been with the team since the start.
We want you to share your favorite Tips memories with us. Was it the marriage proposal made at center ice? Or maybe a highlight-reel goal by Zach Hamill or Peter Mueller? We'll publish your stories on the front page of The Herald on Sept. 23.
Are you the Silvertips' biggest fan? Show us photographic proof, and win a prize. Winners will be invited to a Tips game as guests of The Herald.
So hurry up, and let the celebration begin. Send your contributions to firstname.lastname@example.org or post them in our reader galleries at www.heraldnet.com/yourphotos.
Apply online for free school meals: Financially strapped families in the Mukilteo School District can now apply online for subsidized school meals for their students.
The National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program were established to promote the health and well-being of children by providing them with nutritious meals during the school day.
A family of four may be eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals with a total household income of less than $42,643. Last year, about half of the students in the Mukilteo district were eligible.
A secure online application system can be found at http://mukilteo.schoollunchapp.com. Or call the district's Nutrition Services office at 425-356-1212 for more information.
