SPOKANE -- A 50-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for more than a dozen Spokane County burglaries, including one crime during which three sisters hid in a bedroom while he was in their house.

KXLY-TV reported that Dean Blackford was sentenced Friday for 15 counts of residential burglary, one count of trafficking stolen property and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

He had nine previous felony convictions when he was arrested last spring. KXLY said he later admitted to more than 20 residential break-ins, telling detectives he broke into homes to support a $1,000-a-week meth habit.
