KING-TV reported that the dollar bills were a sort of mute protest against the power of the dollar and economic inequality. Northwest Cable News estimated the Seattle crowd at about 120.
In New York City, a few hundred protesters marked the anniversary by clogging intersections in the city's financial district and protesting elsewhere. More than 180 were arrested, most on disorderly conduct charges.
The first anniversary of the Occupy Seattle movement comes in early October.
