Published:
SULTAN -- The City Council last Thursday voted unanimously to hire Kenneth Walker, 54, to be city administrator. Walker is leaving his city administrator job in Vidalia, La., after five years.
The Sultan position pays $100,000 a year, not including benefits.
Walker said he applied for the position to be closer to his family and friends who live in the Everett and Seattle areas.
"I think the people in the region had it together. They had a good outlook on life," Walker said. "I look forward to being a member of the community."
Walker's first day as administrator for the city of 4,651 people will be Oct. 1.
Walker was one of four candidates for the job after Deborah Knight left the position to become city administrator in Stanwood on June 1.
