EVERETT -- Two strong Wesco 4A South teams in Jackson and Cascade battled to a scoreless tie at Everett Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.
"It was kind of a battle of wills in the midfield to see who could possess the ball," said Cascade head coach Jamie Gay.
According to Gay most of the game was played in the midfield, with neither goalie needing to make too many saves. "(Both team's) best scoring opportunities came on set pieces," said Gay. "A couple of corner kicks or deep free kicks played into the box for a header. ...
"It was just a good tight defensive struggle. Their defense stood as well as ours. It was a good Wesco South battle."
When asked what he would take away from the game, Gay said the Bruins had to create more scoring opportunites. "It takes more than a handful of scoring opportunites to put one in the net," Gay said. "We can stand strong defensively and shut people out, but we need to get possession forward, to create more quality scoring opportunities to put it in the net."
