Let the voting begin.
Ballots are getting mailed today to thousands of addresses across the nation and around the world because that’s where those registered Washington voters expect to be when the Nov. 6 election arrives.
I have a story today on those voters living overseas or serving in the military who will be receiving their ballot from Snohomish County. It’s interesting how you can find them in just about every state and country. In 2006, the Herald looked deeper into the numbers and the process which allows registered voters to cast their ballots from all points of the globe. The Herald’s Scott North and Jeff Switzer unearthed a bunch of good stuff like an Edmonds musician who voted in local elections while living in Austria for 20 years. It’s a good read.
Most of the state’s nearly 3.7 million registered voters will receive a ballot in the mail this time next month. Here’s a primer on the election timeline from the Secretary of State’s Office.
