WENATCHEE —The Washington state Transportation Department closed U.S. Highway 97 at Blewett Pass for most of Friday to help crews battling wildfires.
The department said a stretch of the highway was closed from 8 a.m. until shortly after 7 p.m.
Firefighters needed the highway closed for back-burning and other fire containment operations.
