Computer purgatory

So my work laptop has reached meltdown status and become almost unusable. Somehow I was still able to get my game story e-mailed to the office tonight, but gameday blog/Twitter activity is going to be compromised until we can get the technical difficulties sorted out.

As for tonight's opener, it was pretty much a complete disaster for the Tips. Not only did they lose 6-0 to a Prince George team that missed the playoffs last season, they looked pretty bad in the process.

Everett actually came out with energy in the opening minutes and controlled play. But six minutes in a bad turnover in the neutral zone presented Colin Jacobs with a breakaway, and Tips defenseman Nick Walters was forced to take him down for a penalty shot. Jacobs converted the penalty shot, and it all fell apart for Everett from there.

There really wasn't anything positive to take away from this game from Everett's perspective. The Tips didn't generate any offense, looked confused on defense, took too many penalties, and Austin Lotz had a rough game in goal in his first start as the team's No. 1. The Tips really need to rebound in Sunday's rematch.

Prince George received a big game from Jacobs (two goals, two assists), the team's offseason pick-up from Seattle. Jacobs never produced in Seattle the way the T-birds expected. Perhaps the change of scenery is just what he needed. Cougars goalie Brett Zarowny had a memorable WHL debut, posting a shutout against the Tips. Didn't Vancouver's Jamie Tucker also do that against Everett several years back?
