Bicyclist's speed may have contributed to fatal crash

BRIER -- Police believe a bicyclist's speed may have contributed to the collision that took his life on Saturday morning in the Brier area.
The bicyclist collided with a pickup truck about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Atlas and Barker roads, northeast of Brier, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The bicyclist, Christopher Wallace Alm, 24, of Redmond, died at the scene from blunt-force injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office. His death was ruled an accident.
The sheriff's Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident, Ireton said.
"At this time, investigators believe that the bicyclist may have been traveling too fast to safely negotiate traffic and the curve in the road," she said.
As of Monday, no charges had been filed against the truck driver, 43, of Mountlake Terrace.
Police don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
