Here's a good excuse to visit the lovely little town of La Conner: The La Conner Quilt and Textile Museum is exhibiting a collection of quilts from Japan using vintage kimono fabrics.
The exhibit called "At Play -- Asobi," assembled by guest curator Miwako Kimura, is a nod to the quilters' joy and absorption in the art, according to the museum website.
The exhibit will be on display 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays through Oct. 7.
The museum is at 703 Second St., La Conner. The admission price of $7 for nonmembers and $5 for students and military includes all exhibits. Children younger than 12 and members are admitted free.
To see more quilts, visit the shops around town that are displaying the works of the Washington State Quilters-Spokane Chapter through Oct. 14. Maps are available at participating shops.
Call 360-466-4288 or go to www.laconnerquilts.com for more information.
