Everett School Board likely to OK salary schedules tonight

EVERETT -- New salary schedules for Everett School District administrators and some classified employees are on the calendar for approval at today's meeting of the Everett School Board.
The schedules cover about 140 workers, including administrators and technical employees. They follow a new contract with the teachers' union, approved by the board on Sept. 11. Administrative salaries were not increased during the 2011-2012 school year.
Today's public meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in the School Board Meeting Room at the Educational Service Center, 4730 Colby Ave., in Everett.
"Once teacher negotiations are complete, that triggers the setting of salary schedules for a number of groups tied to that," said Mary Waggoner, district spokeswoman.
Many administrators come from the teaching ranks and are required to have state teacher certification, Waggoner said. Teacher contracts are for 185 days, while administrator contracts are for at least 225 days of work, she said.
Also being presented for the board's approval today is an agreement under which the district would pay a $30 monthly allotment to every employee whose health insurance premiums exceed $200 per month.
