Hope has horrible attendance record

I agree with your endorsement of Hans Dunshee for another term in the Legislature but I believe that Mary McNaughton is a far better choice than Mike Hope for the 44th District. (Friday editorial, "Re-elect Dunshee, Hope.") Mr. Hope seems to be too busy with his full-time position with the Seattle Police Department and his small business operation to even show up to vote in Olympia. He's missed 175 votes, including 50 this year alone, and has one of the five worst attendance records in the Legislature.
When he did show up, he fiddled around, introducing HB 2630 to stop the Seattle Police from implementing the U.S. Department of Justice use-of-force recommendations, and voted against HB 2640, a bill that banned toxic toys.
We need someone who will take the time to read and study proposed legislation and not skip out on the legislative sessions or blindly vote with the leadership of his party. Mary McNaughton deserves a chance to show that she can do better.
