The man, 54, of Anacortes, remains in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, officials said Thursday.
Police have not released the man's name because he's not been charged with a crime, said Everett police officer Aaron Snell, a spokesman for the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, which handles officer-involved shootings.
The man was shot by a Snohomish County sheriff's deputy during a 10:40 a.m. robbery at the Stanwood KeyBank branch.
The suspect was wearing a long black wig, had covered his face and brandished a small-caliber handgun, Snell said. He demanded money and had taken more than $5,000 when he was interrupted by the deputy.
The man was shot multiple times as he ran from the bank and into the Haggen grocery store parking lot across the street, Snell said. Detectives haven't said whether the man shot, too.
Investigators haven't confirmed whether the man is suspected in other strings of bank robberies in the area. A bicycle found outside the bank Tuesday was impounded as potential evidence, Snell said.
