Friday was already going to be a big day for Marysville Getchell head football coach Davis Lura.
A few hours before the big game against rival Marysville Pilchuck it got a little sweeter. Lura, along with Hoquiam coach Jason Ronquillo, was named NFL high school coaches of the week by the Seahawks and Sterling Bank.
Lura has guided his team to a 2-2 record this season, which includes the first wins in the program’s history. Getchell, which beat Stanwood 24-8 last week, didn’t win a game in its first season last year.
