“Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat”: Just like in the book, the Cat in the Hat brings craziness to a boring rainy afternoon, including inviting Thing One and Thing Two. Schack-toberfest: Gorgeous glass pumpkins will be abundant at the Schack Art Center Schack-toberfest, an art and harvest-themed festival that includes live glass blowing, fall-themed kids activities, and “Make Your Own” glass pumpkin classes in the hot shop. Visitors get the chance to “pick” their own glass pumpkin from more than 400 Schack-blown pumpkins in the gallery patch; Schack-toberfest is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 30 at Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett. The Polish Festival: noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at Seattle Center Playhouse/Intiman Theatre, 201 Mercer St., Seattle. Festival goers will be offered free entertainment and performances by Polish groups, workshops related to Polish culture, art exhibits and children’s activities; vendors include traditional folk costumes, Polish glass art, hand-crafted pottery decorated using exceptional stamping technique, crystal, jewelry and one of a kind cut-out art for sale and an exhibition of Polish film posters; for adults, the beer garden will have a variety of imported Polish beer and authentic Polish fare. Tutankhamun: The Golden King and The Great Pharaohs: The exhibition features more than 100 objects from King Tut’s tomb and ancient sites representing some of the most important rulers throughout 2,000 years of ancient Egyptian history. Many of these objects have never toured in the United States before this exhibit. Come face-to-face with the largest image of King Tut ever unearthed — a 10-foot statue of the pharaoh; through Jan. 6 at Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Ave. N, Seattle.
