Your kids can pretend they’re Indiana Jones and do an archaeological dig to find real treasures.
This hands-on experience is part of the book-signing event today at the Edmonds Bookshop for the new coloring book based on the artifacts from King Tut’s tomb, “Tutankhamun: A King’s Coloring Book.”
The event begins at noon at the bookshop, 111 Fifth Ave. S., Edmonds. Author and illustrator Richard Schmid will be there to answer questions about King Tut and archaeology, and to autograph copies of his new book.
The “dig” for kids will be in a sandbox — with buried treasures to find and keep — installed in the bookshop just for this event.
The coloring book, for sale at the bookstore, is $5.95. It has 50 pen-and-ink hand drawings taking kids through the ABCs of artifacts and other Tut-related vocabulary such as “alabaster” and “chariot.”
The book, done in alphabetical order, also has a glossary of terms and an index of objects found in Tut’s Tomb.
Call the Edmonds Bookshop, 425-775-2789, for more information about the event. Go to www.tutcoloringbook.com for information about the coloring book.
