SEATTLE -- After beating then-No. 8 Stanford last Thursday 17-13, the University of Washington football team finds itself in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time this season. The Huskies earned the No. 23 spot in this week's rankings, announced Sunday morning.

The Huskies (3-1 overall, 1-0 in the Pac-12) returned to the top 25 for the first time since October 16 of last season, when they were No. 22 following a win over Colorado, improving their record to 5-1.

Next Saturday night in Eugene, the Huskies square off with Oregon (5-0, 2-0). The Ducks remained No. 2 in both major polls after beating Washington State Saturday night in Seattle. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Autzen Stadium and the game will air live on ESPN.

The Huskies did not earn a spot in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll, instead finishing just one spot out of the top 25. Washington opened the season two spots outside of the preseason AP Top 25 and one position out of the coaches' preseason poll.

Alabama is a unanimous No. 1 and LSU slipped another spot in the AP poll.

The Crimson Tide received all 60 first-place votes for the first time this season. The Tigers had a second straight sketchy performance, this time against Towson, and dropped a spot for the second consecutive week.

LSU won 38-22 at home against the FCS opponent Saturday night and is ranked No. 4 in the new media poll.
