50 years ago (1962)
The oldest member of the International Brother of Locomotive Engineers, Arthur Hutchinson, 96, of Arlington, beamed proudly as H.W. Haskins, the retired assistant grand chief pinned a diamond pin to his lapel marking his 75 years with the Brotherhood.
Warner's Building Supplies at Madison St. and Commercial Ave. in the heart of the Pinehurst business district was opening an addition to its business. The firm would do truss fabricating in a new building to the rear of its retail enterprise. The business was owned by Loyd Warner and Bill Bortner.
25 years ago (1987)
Firefighters from Lynnwood and Edmonds rushed to a fire in the Parker Paint store at James Village that caused an undetermined amount of damage. Store manager Bob Southard said he didn't know what caused the fire.
For $99 you could move in to the Millwood Estates Apartments at 16601 6th Ave. W. in Mill Creek. Amenities included a health club, clubhouse/cabana, indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzis, sundeck, tanning salon, big-screen television lounge, party kitchen with wet bar and more.
