EVERETT -- A Lynnwood man arrested after a seven-hour standoff with police Saturday allegedly threatened his parents after his mother refused to give him money to buy drugs, according to court records.

The mother told officers her son, 48, has a drug problem. She was "extremely fearful" that he would kill her, police wrote in an affidavit to establish probable cause for the arrest.

At one point, the man said he was going to kill his parents and was armed with a knife, police alleged in court papers.

Police were called to the home on the 6700 block of 190th Street SW around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The parents were able to call 911 and police got them out through the front door. The man then barricaded himself inside the home, police said.

With no one else inside the home, police decided they could wait.

Around 8:10 p.m., the man tried to sneak off when he was confronted by police using a dog. He was evaluated at the scene by paramedics before being booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

The Lynnwood man was arrested for investigation of felony harassment with threats to kill, violating a protection order and possessing stolen property.

He denied making threats toward his parents, according to court records.

The man had one felony and three misdemeanor warrants out for this arrest when he was taken into custody.

He also has previous convictions for forgery, possessing stolen property, drug possession and malicious harassment.
