Knights' Anne Ferguson punched and taken to hospital after victory

Eds. note: This story originally stated that Anne Ferguson was the player punched by an Arlington player and was carted off the field after the game. After talking to both coaches on Wednesday Ferguson was not the player involved in the foul where a red card was pulled. Also Kamiak coach Beth Stewart called it more of a clothesline than a punch. Arlington coach Nathan Davis disputed that, calling it a hard collision in which his player's forearm hit the Kamiak player in the face.

ARLINGTON -- Emma Makela recorded the shutout and Emele Chaddock and Anne Ferguson scored goals to lead Kamiak to a victory over Arlington in a Wesco 4A crossover game.

The game -- which was physical throughout according to Kamiak coach Beth Stewart -- was marred late when Kamiak's Marie Scott was clotheslined by an Arlington player. The Eagles player received a red card and was ejected from the game. Shortly after the game, Ferguson was taken to a nearby hospital after passing out, said Stewart, and Shannon Peth may have broken her ankle.

"It's been a rough night," said Knights coach Beth Stewart. "Anne passed out two minutes after the game and appears to have a concussion. When we left the field she had blood coming down her face. She may have a broken ankle, but we don't know yet."
