Marcus Trufant's back an issue again/Wednesday injury report

The Seahawks came out of Sunday's game in St. Louis mostly healthy, but one injury that did come up is another back issue for cornerback Marcus Trufant.

Trufant, who has changed roles this year and now plays as Seattle's nickel back in passing situations, first had a back problem come up prior to the 2009 season. He opened that year on the Physically Unable to Perform list, then returned for the final 10 games, though he was never quite right that season. Trufant made it through the 2010 season without any problems, but ended up on injured reserve last October when a similar back issue crept up.

Asked if this injury is related to Trufant's previous issues, Pete Carroll said, "It's related."

Carroll didn't give any long-term prognosis on Trufant other than to say he'll sit out Wednesday's practice and "We'll see how it goes and progresses during the week."

With Trufant out, Carroll said recently signed cornerback Danny Gorrer and second-year corner Byron Maxwell will play the nickel.

The only other injury news from Carroll is that guard John Moffitt (knee) is not ready to return this week, which is what Carroll had said Monday, and that rookie DT Jaye Howard is still being bothered by the foot injury that kept him out of Sunday's game.

The Seahawks afternoon practice wrapped up earlier this afternoon, and there were no big surprises on the injury report.
