Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1962)

Several people from local banks were working hard auditing and keeping track of each day's returns in donations to the United Good Neighbors drive. Among them were Jacqueline Tillson and Ruby Jolly of Seattle-First National Bank Everett Branch, Fred Branson of Everett Trust and Savings, and Chuck Elliot of People's Bank.

Roger Dexter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dexter, Pinehurst, was named chairman of the student academic affairs committee at Seattle Pacific College. Among the activities coordinated by the committee was the annual publication of "Essence," a collection of student prose and poetry.


25 years ago (1987)

Riders were not afflicted by heat-induced visions that numbers were up at the Mukilteo-Clinton and Edmonds-Kingston runs. The Mukilteo route carried the most vehicles in the state system this August. The Seattle-Winslow and the Edmonds routes carried the most people respectively.

The most popular videocassette rentals in Snohomish and Island counties were "Mannequin," "Blind Date," "Hoosiers," "Some Kind of Wonderful," and "Light of Day." Nationally they were "Crocodile Dundee," "An American Tail," "Black Widow," "The Bedroom Window," and "From the Hip."
