Everett to consider increasing transit fares

EVERETT -- A proposal to raise Everett Transit bus fares by 25 cents is on the agenda of tonight's City Council meeting.

A public hearing on the proposal is part for the regular council meeting at 6:30 p.m. The address is 3002 Wetmore Ave.

A final decision from the council is expected in late October or early November.

Everett Transit has scheduled two public meetings about the possible increase. The first is 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Dan Snow Room on the second floor of Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave. The second is 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Evergreen Branch Library, 9512 Evergreen Way.

The fare for people between 19 and 64 years old on fixed routes is 75 cents; it's $1.75 on commuter routes.
