Clearview: Fire station open house
Snohomish County Fire District 7 in Clearview plans a 27th annual open house celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 14.
The free open house is held as part of Fire Prevention Month, district spokeswoman Autumn Waite said.
The event is set to include tours of fire vehicles, demonstrations of how people are cut from cars after crashes, a fire safety trailer interactive exhibit and a visit from Topper, the Snohomish County arson dog.
The open house is at district headquarters, 8010 180th St. SE, Snohomish.
Everett: Hewitt Avenue parking limits
Replacement of a water main on Hewitt Avenue will bring lane closures and street parking restrictions beginning Monday. The work will be done on the south side of Hewitt Avenue, from I-5 west to Virginia Avenue.
The project is expected to be done by January, unless bad weather delays work. Signs and flaggers to help with traffic flow will be provided by SRV Construction, the city’s contractor.

Mountlake Terrace: Purple Lights event
People in Mountlake Terrace are encouraged to display purple lightbulbs in their homes at night throughout October to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s the city’s fourth annual “Purple Light Nights Campaign.”
The lights are meant to remind people that domestic violence is a community concern, police Cmdr. Doug Hansen said. The police department has a limited supply of free lightbulbs those who would like to participate.

Lakeview Trail discussed at meeting
People still have a chance to learn about the options and give their opinions on the Lakeview Trail project, which is a series of sidewalks, bike lanes and trails between the Interurban Trail and Mountlake Terrace Transit Center and Town Center.
The project is paid for mainly by three grants from the federal government for $2.5 million — or about 83 percent of the design and construction costs.
A preliminary design is expected to be presented at an open house this winter.
Check out copies of the exhibits and a PowerPoint presentation at www.cityofmlt.com; click on “Lakeview Trail Project Information” under “Most Requested Services.”
People can still send mailed comments that must be postmarked by Oct. 8. Comments may also be emailed, phoned in or hand delivered until Oct. 10.
