The Los Angeles Times said Burbank police had initially considered the death suspicious because of the location of the body of Clifford Morris, 55, of Richland, Wash., but after an autopsy determined otherwise.
Coroner's officials told The Associated Press on Thursday night a cause of death has been deferred, pending further testing.
Morris had been scheduled to helm a return flight to Seattle from Bob Hope airport in Burbank Tuesday but didn't report to work. His body was found that night on the off-ramp near the airport.
Police said there were no obvious signs of injury or robbery.
