New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, rumored to be a prime presidential candidate in 2016 if Mitt Romney falls short this year, swung by Snohomish County on Thursday to meet with local Republicans and for a private fundraiser.
Christie departed from the county after the fundraiser — a sure sign that no one thought to mention to the plus-size governor that the Everett Sausage Festival begins today.
Not on our planes: Using cellphones aboard airliners is permissible, if expensive, elsewhere in the world, but there’s no great desire in the United States, on the part of the airline industry — or, allegedly, its customers — to allow in-flight wireless calls.
Apparently, phone calls would present an intolerable affront to the elegance of today’s air travel experience: the kid kicking the back of your seat, the semi-fetid air, the Chris Christie-size guy crammed into the seat next to you, the three-hour waits on the tarmac.
