MONROE -- A Washington State Patrol trooper accidentally rear-ended another driver about 11:30 a.m. Friday along U.S. 2 near Monroe.

The crash happened in the westbound lanes in front of the Evergreen State fairgrounds, according to trooper Keith Leary.

The trooper was behind a pickup truck, driven by a Sultan man, 33, Leary said. Another car pulled in front of the truck, and the truck slowed.

The trooper was looking at oncoming traffic at the time and hit the truck. No injuries were reported.

"Our apologies were expressed at the time of the collision to the victim driver," Leary said. "The patrol car had to be towed from the scene."

Traffic was directed around the crash.
