SHELTON -- A fire spokesman says firefighters are making progress against a wildfire near Shelton that chased some residents from their homes.

Spokesman Dale Warriner said late Friday that the Powerline 2 Fire was about 40 percent contained and had burned 150-200 acres.

Earlier in the day the fire was reported burning underneath power lines but was not disrupting electricity supplies.

Some residents left their homes after the fire started Thursday afternoon but they have returned. No homes were lost.

Meanwhile, a wildfire burning on the Colville Indian Reservation near Omak had grown to 19 1/2 square miles and was 15 percent contained late Friday. That fire burned two homes earlier in the week.

Officials announced they’ve fully contained the Table Mountain Fire that has burned across 66 square miles of central Washington since Sept. 8.
