Dog bites firefighter during medical call

EVERETT -- An Everett firefighter wasn't seriously injured Friday after being bitten by a dog during a medical call.
Crews were summoned about 1 p.m. to a home in the 10600 block of Holly Drive, Fire Inspector Eric Hicks said.
As they entered the home, the dog barked at them, charged and bit a firefighter, Hicks said. The bite broke the skin on the firefighter's left shin.
The firefighter was taken to a local hospital to be checked, Hicks said.
Animal control officers were called.
They checked the dog's medical records and verified that it was current on all vaccines, city spokeswoman Kate Reardon said.
The city doesn't have any other reported complaints about the dog, she said.
The dog, a Redbone Coonhound, was deemed potentially dangerous. The owner can appeal the ruling.
