SPOKANE — Mead beat top-ranked Jackson 25-20, 29-27 in the championship match of the 64-team Crossover Classic at Ferris High School in Spokane on Saturday.
“I thought it was a good match,” Jackson coach Ashley Allen said. “We got a lot to learn from it. I thought our girls played well, Mead is a good team. What matters is state, and that’s what we’re going to worry about.”
Third-ranked Mead led start to finish in the first game and was a point away from winning in the second set before Jackson won five straight points to take a 25-24 lead. But the Timberwolves could not close out the game and the Panthers won the match when Hannah Zalopany’s serve couldn’t be returned.
Emmy Allen led Jackson with nine kills.
