GRANITE FALLS — Rescue crews spent more than an hour bringing a Snohomish man to safety Sunday afternoon after he climbed onto rocks surrounded by flowing water, the Granite Falls Fire Department reported.
The 25-year-old man and his girlfriend had been walking near the fish ladder at Granite Falls when he went upstream and wound up on a rock between two falls, fire Lt. Jeff Torgerson said.
The first 911 call came at 3:16 p.m.
“He wasn’t comfortable getting himself off,” Torgerson said. “There was probably 6 to 8 feet between him and any of the rocks he could jump to.”
A swift-water rescue team assisted, using ladders and safety ropes to reach the man, he said. He was back on the river bank, uninjured, shortly before 5 p.m.
