Want to learn to bake artisan bread at home? Here's your chance.

The Snohomish Library is hosting a class on bread-making. Recipes and samples will be provided. The class is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the library, 311 Maple Ave. Attendance is limited, so register early by calling 360-568-2898.



Honoring banned books: October is banned books month and the Mukilteo Library plans to host a readings in honor books that have been banned or challenged in the United States.

The event is planned from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Saturday at the library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. Book-It Repertory Theatre's professional actors will perform the most controversial sections from the books, then facilitate a discussion on the First Amendment and how and why books are banned and challenged. The free event is for teens and adults.



Talk about caring for seniors: A forum is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in Everett dedicated to aging policy issues and Washington's readiness to meet the needs of the growing numbers of seniors in the state.

Many legislative candidates around Snohomish County plan to attend the event at the Weyerhaeuser Room at the Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave.

The event is free and open to the public. The event is hosted by AARP Washington, the ElderCare Alliance, the Washington Association of Area Agencies on Aging and the Snohomish County Council on Aging. Organizers will ask for phone numbers and emails of people who attend to send out follow-up information.
