Three goalies get on a bus ...

... and that's no joke for the Everett Silvertips.

The news this morning is that Austin Lotz was on the bus when it departed for Everett's six-game swing through the East Division. Lotz, Everett's No. 1 goaltender, suffered a strained groin muscle during Saturday's game at Seattle. Given the nature of the injury -- it's the type that's labeled week-to-week -- it was up in the air whether Lotz would travel with the team. Would he recover in time to play at all during the trip, or would it be better for him to remain in Everett to recover? This means the Tips believe there's a chance Lotz will be ready to at least get back in the lineup sometime in the next 11 days.

Cole Holowenko and the recently acquired Daniel Cotton are also making the trip. Cotton was acquired from Seattle in exchange for a conditional sixth-round bantam pick, with the condition being whether Cotton was still on the roster at a certain date. I have not been told the date, but it'd be interesting to know if that date passes during the road trip.

As for the trip out east, the Tips have the longest leg of it right off the bat as their first game is Friday at Brandon. That's approximately 24 hours on the bus. At least the Tips are breaking that up into two legs as they're spending tonight in Lethbridge.
