Mukilteo Block Watch member helps nab burglar
Mukilteo's and Sultan's are really good.
Sure, they include the usual Block Watch warnings: recent break-ins, car prowls, suspicious activity, but they also offer a little flavor of life in that community.
The Block Watch email lists in those cities show some of the real efforts between people in town and the police, working together to prevent crime.
OK, that's a bit touchy-feely, but a lot of these Block Watch folks are pretty neat people whenever you sit and talk with them, even if their efforts don't always make the paper.
They care about their community, and that's cool.
I like getting little good-news Block Watch tidbits like this one from Mukilteo police officer Cheol Kang.
He recently sent out an email reporting that on Sept. 24, a Mukilteo Block Watch member saw a burglar in a neighbor's yard in the 900 block of Fourth Street. The neighbor called 911, and police were able to nab the guy and book him.
Here's the corresponding blotter entry:
“Officers responded to the above address regarding a suspicious person a neighbor was watching in the residence yard. Officers contacted the subject and subsequently arrested him for Residential Burglary. After obtaining a written confession, Officers booked him on the Res Burg and 2 outstanding Shoreline DWLS Warrants.”
Or, as Kang wrote to the email list:
“Please continue to share the information among your neighborhoods and keep an eye out for each other.”
