Lowell-Larimer Road project finally set to begin
Crews will fix a section of Lowell-Larimer Road that was undermined by a landslide in 2011.

EVERETT -- Road crews plan to start much anticipated repairs Monday to an eroded section of Lowell-Larimer Road.
The road has been restricted to one lane since a landslide during the summer of 2011 undermined a couple of hundred feet of the shoulder. The city expects the work to be complete by the end of November, though cold, wet weather could cause delays.
Drivers and bicyclists should prepare for temporary lane closures and delays during weekdays, from about 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"They probably won't have much more inconvenience than they've already been having," city spokeswoman Kate Reardon said.
Before starting work on the project, the city had to reach an agreement to use part of a farmer's property next to the landslide area. That happened in August. The agreement addresses utilities, compensation for tree removal and effects on farming, among other issues.
In September, the City Council approved a bid of $392,000 for the work from Granite Construction, a contractor with headquarters in Watsonville, Calif., and branch offices around the country.
The work is taking place to the east of the 5900 block of Lowell-Larimer Road. The contractor plans to post signs with flaggers directing traffic while work is ongoing.
