EVERETT -- A Lake Stevens man is facing life behind bars after pleading guilty Wednesday to robbing a Snohomish convenience store in January.
The robbery conviction was Keith Puett's third-strike under the state's persistent offender law. A judge has no option but to sentence Puett to life in prison without the chance of release at a hearing next month. Puett turns 29 today.
He had two prior convictions for second-degree assault.
Snohomish detectives arrested him and Shane Moy hours after an armed robbery at Vic's Market. The men forced the store owner to hand over $60 and eight packs of cigarettes. The masked robbers fled the scene, but Snohomish detectives tracked down the getaway car to a Lake Stevens house.
Puett barricaded himself in an attic for several hours before SWAT members forced him outside using pepper spray.
