EVERETT -- Two espresso stand robberies in north Everett within the past week could be related, police said Tuesday. Both occurred around noon on a weekday, and the description of the robbers was similar, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. One happened Thursday in the 2800 block of Hewitt Avenue, the second Monday in the 4100 block of Hoyt Avenue. Both involved a man walking up to a coffee stand, flashing a knife and demanding cash. During Monday's robbery, the robber threatened to hurt the barista, a 27-year-old Everett woman, Snell said. She handed over money, and the robber demanded more until she showed him there was nothing else in the till. In both cases, police surrounded the scene and searched with a police dog without finding a suspect, Snell said. The suspect in both robberies was described as white, in his 20s, about 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11 and with a skinny build. In Monday's robbery, the suspect wore a dark gray Seahawks sweatshirt, with the hood up over a baseball cap. He partially hid the knife in his sleeve, Snell said. In Thursday's robbery, the suspect wielded a six-inch hunting knife. Anyone with information should call 911 or Everett police at 425-257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
