Edmonds: Free ID theft workshop
A free identity theft workshop is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Edmonds Lutheran Church, 23525 84th Ave. W., Edmonds.
The workshop, "Identity Theft: What You Need to Know," is sponsored by the southwest Snohomish County chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a faith-based financial services group.
Participants will learn about the different kinds of identity theft, how to protect themselves and what to do if they become a victim. The workshop includes lunch. People are asked to bring a donation of nonperishable food.
During the workshop, participants and the public can shred documents for free at a shredding truck that will be in the church parking lot.

Everett: First Dogtober Fest set for Saturday
Nonprofit organizations Scrub-A-Mutt and Animal Rescue Foundation plan to come together Saturday for their first Dogtober Fest.
The fundraising event is set from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Anchor Pub, 1001 Hewitt Ave. in Everett. Attendees must be 21 to attend and there is limited outdoor seating for people who wish to bring their dogs.
The trivia portion of the event begins at 3 p.m. and there is a $5 buy-in for each person who wants to test their "beer and dog" trivia knowledge. Dog themed basket give-aways and a "Whose Dog" photo contest are also planned.
Money raised at the event will be split between Animal Rescue Foundation and Scrub-A-Mutt's SAM's Fund, which helps homeless dogs that need medical care outside the ability of animal shelters and rescue groups.

Stanwood: Homework workshop
The Stanwood Library plans to offer the workshop "Homework Resources for Parents @ Your 24/7 Library" from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and again on Nov. 14 in the meeting room at the library, 9701 271st St. NW. No registration is required.
The workshop seeks to introduce parents and guardians of third-graders through high school seniors to electronic resources that they can use to help children and teens with homework.
