CLINTON — Detectives from the Island County Sheriff’s Office seized $1,600 in counterfeit $100 bills from a Clinton home Thursday and are warning businesses to be aware that there might be more in circulation.
Deputies serving the search warrant also found methamphetamine and marijuana as well as computers, storage media and other equipment used in creating the phony currency.
Deputies said the counterfeit bills are good quality with simulated watermarks and security features that are passable at a quick glance.
The sheriff’s office is urging local businesses to obtain counterfeit detection pens and screen any large bills they receive.
