The Marysville Strawberry Festival April Friesner Memorial Scholarship Program is seeking its royal court for the 2013 festival.
High school seniors can parlay their leadership and public speaking skills as they perform community service for the city and earn scholarships for the honor.
Information sessions with honorees from the 2012 Strawberry Festival will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and Nov. 8 at the festival office, 1259 State Ave., Marysville.
The top honoree, dubbed the festival queen or king, receives a $5,000 scholarship. Runner-up princes or princesses receive $3,500 scholarships. The Bob Klepper Congeniality Award is voted on by the candidates and comes with a $500 scholarship.

Rolling Readers: The United Way of Snohomish County and the Marysville School District have launched a program to bring volunteer reading tutors into several local classrooms.
The Rolling Readers Program will put volunteer reading tutors in Liberty, Pinewood and Shoultes elementary schools to read with children for 15 minutes at a time.
Each volunteer will come in once a week, from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays starting Nov. 5, and work in teams to ensure continuity. All volunteers must participate in one of two training sessions that will take place at the Red Barn at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road in Marysville. Training will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 24 and from 2:30-5 p.m. Nov. 1.

Free vaccinations: Uninsured college students and low-income adults can get a free whooping cough vaccination during two clinics Tuesday at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.
The first event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in rooms 231/233, Brier Hall. The second clinic is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Snoqualmie Hall lobby. The events are sponsored by the Snohomish Health District and the nonprofit Verdant Health Commission.
