EVERETT -- The driver dutifully had pulled into a parking stall to make a cellphone call Friday evening when a woman appeared at his passenger side door and knocked on the window.
When he rolled down the window to talk with her, a white 1992 Ford Bronco drove up behind, blocking the man, 28, from being able to leave the business lot in the 9000 block of Evergreen Way.
A man jumped out, pulled out a chrome revolver and threatened to kill him.
"Give me everything you got," the robber said.
The victim handed over his cell phone and $40 from his pocket, according to court records.
The driver returned to his rig, where a second man, acting as the getaway driver, drove off. The woman walked away, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. The victim was otherwise unharmed.
The trio were arrested early Saturday morning for investigation of first-degree robbery and are believed responsible for similar stickups.
The alleged gunman, who has a lengthy rap sheet, also was arrested for investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm. His bail was set at $100,000.
Police believe it was not an isolated incident and are hoping other victims will come forward, Snell said.
"Detectives interviewed the suspects and learned this was not the first robbery," Snell said. "It is believed that within the past week, three to four additional victims were robbed in a similar manner along Evergreen Way."
"What we think they were doing is using her as a kind of distraction," Snell said.
For whatever reason, the victims didn't report being robbed.
When searching the Bronco, police found a rifle and a pair of brass knuckles. One of the suspects allegedly told police that the handgun was thrown away after the robbery.
The first suspect is described as a man in his mid-20s who's about 5-foot-7 and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown hair, was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and he carried a chrome-colored revolver.
The woman was described as being in her 20s. She's about 5-foot-7, weighs roughly 140 pounds and has long brown hair. The third suspect is a man in his early 20s. He's about 6-foot-2 and has a thin build and short dark hair.
Any victims or anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call the Everett Police Department tip line at 425-257-8450 or Detective C. Barrows at 425-257-8413.
