Walters gets three games

The league ruled on Everett defensman Nick Walters today, giving him a three-game suspension for his hit on Spokane's Mitch Holmberg during Friday's contest. Walters was given a roughing minor on the play, but was suspended under supplemental discipline. Walters has already served one game, meaning he'll sit out Tuesday's home game against Kamloops and Wednesday's game at Portland. He'll be eligible again for Friday's game at Tri-City.

In an injury update, Everett's two forwards who missed Saturday's game against Seattle, Joshua Winquist and Trent Lofthouse, are both still considered day-to-day because of minor injuries. Lofthouse participated in practice today, Winquist did not. Also, defenseman Austin Adam, who's been out with a broken hand, did some skating during practice today. That's the first time I've seen Adam on the ice since suffering the injury.

Finally, here's a quick look at Tuesday's opponent, the Kamloops Blazers. Kamloops:

- Is ranked No. 1 in the Canadian Hockey League poll.

- Has won 13 straight games.

- Has yet to lose in regulation or overtime this season, the lone ding in 16 games coming in a 4-3 shootout loss at Victoria on Sept. 28.

- Features the league's top three scorers in JC Lipon (39 points), Colin Smith (38 points) and Tim Bozon (29 points).

So the Tips have a tough task ahead. However, it's also an opportunity to do something special in ending what's been as historic start to the season for the Blazers.
