Cutting out cable television at home hasn’t been too tough, but our family misses the annual Halloween-themed movies and shows.

If you are a Netflix subscriber, you can still find plenty of spooky entertainment for the whole family.

Family movies and specials

“Clue”: Not a traditional Halloween movie, but a fun murder mystery with a terrific cast for a rainy night in with the family. With Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Michael McKean (1985).

“Transylvannia 6-5000”: The semi-classic goofy monster comedy starring Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. as two tabloid reporters investigating the myth of Frankenstein. With Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. Geena Davis (1985).

“DreamWorks Shrek’s Swamp Stories”: A three-pack of spooky kid stories featuring Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Puss in Boots. Voices by Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas (2008).

Halloween episodes of kids TV shows

While Netflix doesn’t have all episodes of our favorites shows, here is a selection of a few favorites.

Phineas and Ferb: “One Good Scare Ought To Do It!: Parts 1 &2.” Phineas and Ferb create a haunted house to help cure Candace’s hiccups (Season 1, Episode 9).

Phineas and Ferb: “The Monster of Phineas-n-Ferbenstein.” A Phineas and Ferb version of the Frankenstein story (Season 1, Episode 22).

Phineas and Ferb: “The Curse of Candace/That’s the Spirit!” Two Halloween-themed stories with a vampire Candace and a night of trick-or-treating (Season 3, Episode 12).

iCarly: “iScream on Halloween.” Carly does her webcast from a supposedly haunted apartment (Season 1, Episode 7).

Rugrats: “Curse of the Werewuff.” Angelica tells the babies they will turn into their Halloween costumes (Season 8, Episode 22).

Three other options

“Little Shop of Horrors”: A nerdy florist looking for romance nurtures a special plant. With Rick Moranic, Ellen Greene and Vincent Gardenia (1986).

“Haunted Honeymoon”: Gene Wilder returns to his family’s castle with his fiancee, Gilda Radner (1986).

“Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman”: Alvin thinks his nextdoor neighbor is werewolf (2000).
