Arlington: Bid OK’d for 2013 bridge replacement
The Snohomish County Council on Wednesday approved a nearly $2.2 million bid to replace Jim Creek Bridge along Jordan Road east of downtown Arlington.
The bid from Interwest Construction, Inc. was more than 10 percent lower than the nearly $2.5 million the county estimated the work would cost.
The project, which is scheduled to begin in 2013, includes widening the road and making it easier to see vehicles coming in the opposite direction.
The concrete bridge near Snohomish County’s River Meadows Park dates from 1914. Originally built for two-lane traffic, it’s now restricted to one alternating lane because of today’s larger vehicles.
