Lancers' running back Colin Cossette took a majority of the carries in the third and fourth quarter, including the Lancers' final score with 2:41 remaining, due to Thompson suffering an eye injury that kept him out a majority of the second half.
The Hawks came out of halftime motivated. Switching from the run to the pass, Mountlake Terrace quarterback Beau Kennedy passed on six of the Hawks' first 12 plays of the second half, before running back Devante Downs ran it 14 yards for Mountlake Terrace's first touchdown.
Downs would finish the night running for 128 yards on 17 carries.
The Hawks would go on to score on two huge plays. The first an 80-yard touchdown run from Lucas Pope that would make it 28-15 with 1:25 left in the third quarter and a second a 54-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Shawn Evenson that would pull Mountlake Terrace within a touchdown with 8:46 remaining in the game.
But a long drive and a touchdown by Cossette put Kennedy up 35-22 and the game out of reach.
Pope would finish with 94 yards on four carries. Evenson would catch seven balls for 113 yards and one touchdown.
