High as a kite

The most interesting pilot in the world: Anheuser-Busch is objecting to Budweiser's frequent appearance in Denzel Washington's hands in the movie "Flight," in which the actor portrays an alcoholic airline pilot.

The beer giant wants all Bud logos removed from the film. The director said that would be difficult and instead offered to film a new scene in which Washington intones, "I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis."

And strap your hands 'cross my engines: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, R-E Street Band, shared a hug with Bruce Springsteen during a benefit concert where the famously liberal Jersey rock legend played. This came days after voicing his appreciation for President Barack Obama's response after superstorm Sandy, all while affirming his support for Mitt Romney.

Careful, Chris. It starts innocently enough with accepting disaster relief. Then you're rubbing bellies with media elites. And before you realize it, you're setting your car radio presets to NPR.

Don't know much about history: On this day in 1928, Herbert Hoover's presidential victory over Alfred Smith was flashed on an electric wraparound sign on the New York Times building, a technological first.

Media pundits were quick to forecast the death of newspapers and radio once all homes had electric wraparound signs.
