MONROE — The city is not going to getting any bigger.
A majority of the voters who lived in the area known as Roosevelt Ridge do not want to become Monroe residents. The ballot measure was being rejected with 91 percent of the vote on Tuesday night. About 300 people live in the mostly undeveloped 264 acres located north of the city, bordering Robinhood Lane on the east.
The city hoped to annex Roosevelt Ridge to build more housing to fill the needs for projected population growth.
